TrendForce: OLED Monitor Panel Shipments Revised Upward Amid Continued Strong Demand

According to the latest research by TrendForce, despite ongoing challenges in the macroeconomic environment, both buyers and sellers in the OLED monitor panel market remain highly proactive. Following an explosive 132% year-over-year growth in 2024, the shipment momentum is expected to continue into 2025. TrendForce has revised its 2025 OLED monitor panel shipment forecast upward from 2.8 million units to 3.4 million units, reflecting an increase in annual growth from 40% to 69%.

While the overall panel market has been impacted by the economic effects of U.S. reciprocal tariff policies, OLED monitor panels have been less affected and continue to exhibit robust growth momentum. One key driver is the strong adoption of OLED monitors among gaming enthusiasts, which has encouraged brands to expand their product lines. Additionally, Korean panel manufacturers are increasingly shifting focus toward OLED monitor panels.

TrendForce notes that OLED monitor panel supply continues to be dominated by Samsung Display (SDC) and LG Display (LGD). As growth in OLED TV panels faces a bottleneck, SDC is pivoting towards OLED monitors as a strategic focus, aiming to scale up monitor panel shipments to maintain high utilization rates and profitability for its A5 production line.

LGD, previously constrained by losses in its LCD business and reluctant to engage in aggressive price competition with SDC in the OLED monitor segment, initially set a conservative 2025 shipment target of under 700,000 units. However, in light of strong customer demand and undersupply in the OLED panel market, LGD has shifted to a more aggressive stance, raising its 2025 shipment target to 800,000 units, with a potential further upward revision to 1 million units.

On the demand side, gaming brands such as ASUS and MSI are actively promoting OLED monitor products. At COMPUTEX in May, both showcased 27-inch 500Hz QD-OLED gaming monitors. Their OLED monitor panel demand has doubled this year, with ASUS alone exceeding 500,000 units, promoting both QD-OLED and WOLED monitors. The surging demand for WOLED panels has been a key factor driving LGD’s more proactive approach toward OLED monitor panels.

Moreover, China’s 2025 trade-in subsidy program has further boosted domestic gaming demand, prompting local second-tier brands to aggressively expand their OLED monitor product lines.
