Foxconn Announces Partnership with Porotech to Enter AR Glasses Market

Foxconn recently announced its collaboration with Porotech to venture into the AR glasses market. By leveraging Porotech's Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology and Foxconn's Micro LED wafer manufacturing, packaging, and optical module capabilities, the partnership offers a one-stop vertically integrated solution. This integration aims to meet the production demands for micro-display chips and AR glasses, delivering high-performance, high-brightness, compact, and lightweight AR display solutions while driving global advancements in AR and micro-display technology.

Under the collaboration, Foxconn plans to accelerate its strategic deployment in AR and Micro LED sectors. The company is set to establish a Micro LED wafer production line in Taichung, with mass production slated for the fourth quarter of 2025, catering to the future needs of major global clients.

Foxconn expressed optimism about the future AR market, with the new facility expected to position Taiwan as a key hub for AR glasses and Micro LED technology, further strengthening Foxconn’s competitive edge in these industries.

Chen Wei-Ming, General Manager of Foxconn Technology Group's S Business Group, commented on the partnership, stating:
"Following last year’s record-breaking brightness achievement in uLED by Foxconn, this year, we are advancing R&D results into mass production in collaboration with Porotech. Together, we aim to lead a new era of Micro LED technology, bringing compact, high-performance solutions to the global market as quickly as possible."

Porotech CEO and founder Zhu Tongtong remarked that the collaboration with Foxconn in Micro LED micro-displays and augmented reality has already shown promising results. The new investment will further accelerate the mass production process for Micro LEDs. Zhu added, "We look forward to showcasing the outstanding achievements of this partnership to the global market in the near future."
