Intel and Samsung Display have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to jointly develop displays designed for AI PCs and other AI-powered devices. Through this collaboration, Intel aims to enhance its mobile platform with displays better suited to its products, while Samsung seeks to expand its market share in the high-end laptop segment.
According to a report by South Korean media outlet ZDNet Korea, Samsung Display’s goal is to optimize screens for Intel’s AI-enabled processors, such as Lunar Lake, as well as the upcoming Panther Lake and Nova Lake, which are set to launch in 2025 and 2026, respectively.
Intel and Samsung Display have collaborated for many years, with Samsung’s latest Galaxy Book 5 laptop featuring Intel’s Core 200 series processors and Samsung’s own OLED displays.
Lee Ho-jung, Vice President of Samsung Display’s Small and Medium Product Planning Division, stated that Intel continues to drive the future of personal computing. By partnering with Intel, Samsung can accelerate innovation in next-generation display technologies. This collaboration will explore new frontiers in laptop user experience, positioning both companies as leaders in the global AI PC market.
In fact, this is not Intel’s first partnership with display manufacturers. The company previously collaborated with Innolux and Sharp to develop low-power display technology aimed at improving laptop battery life. Additionally, Intel worked with LG to integrate WiDi wireless display technology into LG TVs and monitors. Both Intel and Samsung believe their partnership will drive innovation and enhance the user experience of AI-integrated devices.
Samsung Display faces intense competition in the high-end laptop market from companies such as BOE and LG Electronics. Partnering with Intel ensures that Samsung Display secures a place in the next generation of Intel Core-powered laptops.
