Foreign media The Information reported on the 23rd that Apple is likely to launch a foldable iPhone as early as 2026, which may fold horizontally like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip.

In February, The Information reported that Apple was developing two prototype foldable iPhones, and it now appears that Apple has confirmed the plan. Two sources familiar with the matter revealed that Apple's foldable iPhone has made progress from the conceptual stage, and the company has been in contact with Asian supply chain partners to produce components for the device. The foldable iPhone is reportedly codenamed "V68".

Apple is still working to minimize the fold marks when the phone is unfolded and is trying to make the device even thinner. There are also rumors that Apple plans to develop a foldable phone similar to the MacBook, which is expected to be shipped in 2026.

A May report by Counterpoint Research showed that the global foldable smartphone market grew by 49% in the first quarter, marking the highest growth rate in six quarters, and Huawei topped the list for the first time, surpassing Samsung.

While it cannot be confirmed whether Apple will release a foldable iPhone, the company has not responded to this news. In addition to the foldable phone, Apple may also upgrade its iPhone next year to include a mechanical aperture, allowing for the blurring of background images and the creation of a depth effect while maintaining focus on the subject.
